WARWICK CASTLE HOTEL
Creating an immersive overnight-experience that extends the magic beyond the castle walls
PROJECT OVERVIEW
A hotel should be more than a place to sleep. It should become part of the story.
For Warwick Castle, that meant creating an overnight experience where the adventure continued long after the castle gates had closed for the day.
Building on the success of Knight's Village, the resort set out to create a brand-new themed hotel that would encourage more families to extend their visit while strengthening Warwick Castle's position as a multi-day destination.
As Art Director & Creative, I was responsible for developing the hotel's creative vision, shaping the guest experience from arrival to departure and ensuring every element reflected the storytelling, character and spirit of the Warwick Castle brand.

THE CHALLENGE
The objective was to create much more than additional accommodation. The hotel needed to become a natural extension of the castle experience, giving guests another reason to stay overnight while maintaining the quality, immersion and sense of adventure visitors expect from one of the UK's leading heritage attractions.
Every space needed to contribute to the story, creating memorable moments for families long after their day in the castle had come to an end.
MY APPROACH
I began by considering the complete guest journey rather than individual rooms or spaces. Every stage of the stay was viewed as an opportunity to build anticipation, encourage exploration and deepen the emotional connection with the Warwick Castle brand.
Working closely with the wider project team, I led the creative development of the hotel's themed environments, guest experiences and storytelling, ensuring every design decision supported a single, cohesive vision. The aim was to create an experience where families felt immersed in the world of Warwick Castle from the moment they arrived until the moment they left.
THE SOLUTION
The completed hotel blends themed accommodation, immersive environments and carefully considered guest experiences to create a destination in its own right.
From the arrival experience and public spaces to the themed bedrooms and interactive moments, every element was designed to reinforce the castle's unique identity and transform an overnight stay into an integral part of the overall visitor experience.
Rather than simply providing somewhere to sleep, the hotel extends the story, encouraging families to stay longer, explore more and create lasting memories together.
THE OUTCOME
Since opening, the new hotel has proved extremely popular, contributing to a 52% increase in overnight stays at Warwick Castle Resort compared with 2023.
The project demonstrates how experience-led design and storytelling can support commercial objectives by encouraging longer visits, increasing guest engagement and enhancing the overall appeal of a destination.
For me, it represents the opportunity to bring together creative strategy, storytelling and experience design to create something that families continue to enjoy and that delivers measurable value for the client.

LOOKING AHEAD
Great visitor experiences don't end when the attraction closes. They create memories that encourage guests to return, recommend the experience to others and become lifelong advocates.

If you're planning the next chapter of your visitor experience, I'd love to help you tell that story....
